The Boulletin Board Systems were the spaces of the mutation in act of human perception, through the connection of tools bodies and mind.

Macchina is now working with severalCultural Association (Forthent, Matrix, Thelema): a political front fighting to achieve the most libertarian cyber-rights: right now the Associations are rising issues against the City Council of Rome to obtain the development of a free Civic web Network. This project will assure free access and free digitalspaces for every citizen. They support the idea of a "digital citizenship" through "self manegement" modes, as a way of giving people freeand interactive informations and tools to inflate direct inputs in pubblic decisions. Macchina, with the forthenet crew, is building up a freenet (fast ethernet, linux based) in a young enclave of hactivist artist, called Forte Prenestino, to be the core of this future Digital Polis.

In 1995 Macchina worked with the City Council of Rome and the Cultural association Matrix. She did a cicle of lessons in a Library on the topic /The Digital Spaces of the MOO/, using digital-video installation.

In 1996 she builded, with Costanza della Cananea,Valerio Bindi and Valentina Fenu, the "Foro Romano Digitale" a web site commissioned by the City Council of Rome. The web site was intended to be a database of brainworkers in search of income and projects in search of developers.
The web site and the whole Roman Civic Network were shut down by the City Council itself, for an Inquisition  of a priest about a page that was supposed to be "satanic". The "indicted" page was a contribute to the degree works of Macchina "Feminine and science fiction: writing patterns", it is was also a text published ina nation-wide distributed magazine Torazine. The degree works was and is still online as an open net-project, exploring the boundaries of an open body.

Macchina discussed succesfull her degree works "Feminine and science fiction: writing patterns" in 1996,  she graduated at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in "Sociology of Literature" course with the highest vote, she is now Doctor in Literature.

Actually she is part of the Technical Staff of Flashnet, one of the most popular Italian Internet Service Providers.
